Denise Richards Opens Up About Her First Season On The RHOBH

Actress Denise Richards is currently starring in her first season of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and she fits right in with the cast because of her longtime friendships with show veterans Lisa Rinna and Kyle Richards. Before she joined RHOBH for Season 9, Denise also met Camille Grammer and took a mommy-and-me class with Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave. Being around all of those familiar faces has made it easy for the 47-year-old to film RHOBH, and that means nothing was off limits.

Denise says that she decided to let Bravo cameras capture everything – even her wedding to Aaron Phypers – but that wasn’t her original plan. The actress ultimately chose to put it all out there for fans to see because that was the whole point of being on a reality show.

The RHOBH star told the Chicago Tribune that she has heard of the infamous relationship curse that has seemingly plagued many Real Housewives stars who have come before her, but she doesn’t believe in it.

“I think those relationships probably wouldn’t have lasted anyway. I don’t think the show will make or break a relationship. I think if a relationship fails, it will fail regardless,” she said.

Denise says that she wants fans to know that what they see on the show is her authentic self, and people will either love it or hate it. She didn’t set out trying to be something she wasn’t, and she hopes that people are entertained.

The mom-of-three detailed her split from Charlie Sheen on the reality show Denise Richards: It’s Complicated over a decade ago, and she says she has no regrets about the marriage or the drama that came after their divorce.

Denise says she was never bitter, but the experience definitely changed her. She explained that Sheen’s public downfall was “extremely disheartening.”

But now, she is happily married to Phypers, and she is grateful for all of the lessons she has learned.

“We have an amazing relationship,” Richards says of her new husband. “We love each other for who we are, and we don’t judge each other. And for him to embrace a single woman with [three] daughters and an ex-husband with a wonderfully colorful past, it’s a lot. That made me fall in love with him even more.”

As for her relationship with Sheen, Denise Richards says that she is supportive of her ex – who is now sober – having a relationship with his daughters. And, she wants him to be “the best person and father he can be.”
